Dear Reader
Hello all! Judas Iscariot is a heavy name. Most people steer clear of the issues surrounding this man, which is precisely why I dove right it. I am a Christian, and this man's betrayal of Jesus and his reasoning behind it has always intrigued me. Through this topic I was able to learn more about my own religion and solidify my opinions.
The only facts I knew about my topic were that Judas was a disciple and that he betrayed Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. So I knew the same basic knowlegde that most of the world knows about Judas Iscariot. But there is so much more to his story. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know him and his reasoning and how his actions impacted Christianity. Judas Iscariot impacts me in my time, 2,000 years later!
For this topic I had a couple questions I asked myself. One was, "Why did Judas betray Jesus?" Another was, "How did Judas's betrayal of Jesus lead to His death, resurrection, and my salvation? The last one was, "Was Judas the evil man I learned about in sunday school, or do some people theorize that he had just reasons for his actions?" I had fun pulling all these into my essay and elements.
The resources I used were great. My most used resource was my own Bible. My other two texts were books from the Pope High School library. I also used two credited websites, as well as added a couple pictures to my website from online.
I learned that we will never really know what was going through Judas's head. There are many different theories that I never knew existed. Also, I realized just how important Judas is to Christianity. It was weird to think of him as important, but he is. His evil brought about my good salvation.
My research impacted me in that I feel closer to my faith. I understand more of my Bible and the people's lives inside than I used to. I think my research will open other people's eyes to how even evil actions can lead to good outcomes with God. Plus, picking apart a sinner's mind holds value for us all. None of us are perfect, and I think it is fascinating to see how we all are unique in our imperfections, yet we all can still be ok.
Thank you all for enjoying my website!
Sincerely,
Mandy Wachtel
