Notes
I made an effort to complete four different types of elements. I created a variety to show different viewpoints of my topic. I loved presenting these different elements, and I hope that they provide a fun way to learn about Judas Iscariot and Christianity.
Elements
Jesus Christ: Wanted Criminal
|
Explanation An element from the "Visual and Words" group, my wanted poster presents the priests' view of Jesus and His teachings. Easy to understand, the simple poster shows the black and white thinking of the religious leaders in the temple. The description and explanation behind the money on Jesus's head shows how the priests interpret His actions as a threat to their power. In order to maintain their power, they seek a way to rob Jesus of the people's love. Judas gives them what they need to take Jesus out of the picture and secure their own religious authority. I chose that particular picture of Jesus because He looks like any other man of the age. I enjoyed writing the description because my diction was full of arrogance and scorn. With this element I was able to portray Jesus's simple innocence through an image while portraying the priests' greed and pretentiousness through words.
An element from the "Journalism" group, my advice column presents a modern application of Jesus's teachings through God's Word in the Bible. It was so much fun to write both sides of the issues. I picked specific issues to represent many different aspects of life. From relationships to goals to sicknesses, almost everyone in today's world comes across these issues. The main theme throughout the replies from Mr. Al Mighty revolves around love and faith that events will play out the way the Creator planned them. Whether you believe in God or not, the world can use more patience, perseverance, and faith in each other and in ourselves. So I took the teachings that Jesus taught in the temple before He was arrested and applied them in a fun writing style.
An element from the "Creative Writing" group, my poem presents what I believe to be Judas's view of himself and life after his betrayal of Jesus. This page was the page I enjoyed creating most, because it let me dig deep down into the character of a guilt-stricken betrayer. I wrote it to give others a sense of what Judas's thought process and emotional turmoil might have been like. The Bible presents events and actions, but never really describes the emotions. They are implied but never clearly presented, at least in Judas's case. I wanted to give my peers something to relate to, for I know everyone has done things to friends that they regret. None of us are perfect, right?
The structure of the poem has meaning too. Each couplet rhymes throughout the whole poem. I did not choose a set number of words or syllables per line because I wanted Judas's emotional description to flow. I did purposely make the last four lines sort and to the point to bring attention to the severity of his action in committing suicide. I absolutely loved writing it, for I got to combine my intrigue of this topic with the flow of my pen. Another element from the "Creative Writing" group, I chose the Verbal collage because it, to me, was more of an artwork form. I did try to form collages from pictures, but the websites I used all failed. Plus using the words and putting them into a shape combined both art and words, and I ended up liking that more in the end. I used this collage to represent Judas's and Jesus's relationship. The words form the shape of a crown because both were kings: Jesus of Jews, Judas of sinners. I used that particular color scheme to show the opposites of both men, for blue and red are on opposite sides of the color wheel. I made the names and major descriptors of the two larger than other words to show importance. I made sure to include the word "remembered" because both men are remembered today, again for opposite reasons: Jesus for dying for His people, Judas for betraying the man who loved him as a friend. Good and evil both exist in my collage, just like it existed in their relationship. This element added a layered visual element to my website and, hopefully, another way for others to connect with this topic.
